With ambitious targets set by various nations, including the Netherlands and Germany, the expansion of offshore wind energy is crucial. Our client is dedicated to ensuring that this energy is delivered to the mainland in an environmentally sustainable manner, having developed a unique transnational approach through the 2GW program to enhance the efficiency of this transition.
We are seeking an:
Electrical Engineer – Telecommunications
Large Projects Offshore (LPO):
In alignment with the energy agreement and the Roadmap for Offshore Wind Energy, a strategic rollout plan is being developed for medium-term projects, including the IJmuiden Ver (DC) initiatives. This commitment entails the realization of multiple 2GW HVDC Grid Connection Systems, facilitating the transfer of energy from offshore wind farms to the national electricity grid.
Your Role:
• Assist senior Telecommunications Engineers with network communication topics, focusing on the installation and functionality of operational technology and office IT, broadband data transmission, and WAN/LAN infrastructure, including copper, fiber optic, and wireless technologies in offshore wind farm grid connection projects;
• Engage in hands-on tasks related to offshore ancillary systems, such as VSAT systems, CCTV connections, maritime VHF radio, satellite communications, PAGA, and telephony;
• Ensure quality and progress control of contractors during construction and installation phases, adhering to relevant standards and specifications;
• Review technical documentation and ensure compliance with underlying specifications;
• Manage functional tests, inspections, and commissioning activities;
• Serve as a point of contact for both internal and external project/service partners.
This position will primarily focus on offshore projects while also supporting the design of a new onshore telecommunications concept that is being implemented.
Your Qualifications:
• A university degree (or equivalent) in electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field;
• Comprehensive knowledge of network and radio telecommunications;
• Practical experience with commercial communication systems, including SDH technology, MPLS systems, and VoIP systems;
• Familiarity with IP network components (routers, switches, firewalls) and telecontrol/network control protocols (IEC / -104, IEC 61850);
• A proactive mindset, willingness to learn, strong teamwork skills, and adaptability;
• Proficient verbal and written communication skills in both Dutch and English;
• Qualification for offshore assignments in accordance with occupational health standards;
• Willingness to travel and possess a valid driving license;
• Commitment to fostering a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues.
