About the RoleThe successful candidate will be responsible for driving improvements and maintaining the toolchain for art asset creation and optimization, innovating on techniques in asset creation, and instigating high-level art-related decisions throughout the development cycle. They will also lead a team of up to 4 Technical Artists, planning their work and monitoring their performance.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain a pipeline for art asset creation and optimization that meets the team's needs.
- Innovate and implement new techniques in asset creation to achieve the best visual results from the target platform.
- Making strategic art-related decisions throughout the development cycle to ensure project success.
- Train other artists in best practices, tools, and processes.
- Lead a team of Technical Artists, planning their work and monitoring their performance.
- A deep understanding of rendering theory and expertise in Unreal Engine 4/5, from blueprinting to materials and shaders.
- Strong technical insight and experience in managing people.
- An effective communicator with management and the team.
- Ability to write scripts and tools using Python and knowledge of workflow optimization.
- Experience working in VR and familiarization with Substance Painter & Designer.
- Highly experienced with Houdini and programming skills in C++ and/or C#.
- Understanding of CGFX and/or HLSL shader languages and modeling and texturing abilities.
