Project Overview

In this project, we aim to develop a resilience toolbox to support companies and public stakeholders in developing resilient corridors, focusing on transforming existing corridors. We will design and develop a digital twin for resilient multimodal corridors, enabling the transition to a synchromodal corridor that can utilize the best modality at any moment.

Research Objectives
  1. Develop a resilience toolbox to support companies and public stakeholders in developing resilient corridors.
  2. Design and develop a digital twin for resilient multimodal corridors.
Research Focus

This PhD position focuses on the first objective, conducting fundamental and industrial research on resilience in multimodal logistics. The research will contribute to the development of new quantitative and qualitative methods and techniques, as well as organizational strategies, capabilities, and interventions to improve resilience.

Requirements
  • Master's degree or equivalent in industrial engineering, management science, operations research, operations management, or information systems and computer science-related engineering field.
  • Affinity and/or experience with Resilience, Multimodal Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Digital Twinning, and Data-driven Decision Making.
  • Good team spirit and ability to work in an interdisciplinary and internationally oriented environment.
  • Able to do independent research and willing to develop writing and publication skills.
  • Exhibit a strong passion for developing positive societal impact and possess outstanding skills to collaborate with private and public organizations.
  • Good communication skills and an excellent command of English.

  • Gross monthly salary of € 2.770 in the first year, increasing each year up to € 3.539 in the fourth year.
