Research and Development Engineer

You will be part of a diverse and multidisciplinary research team of three to four engineers. As a Research Engineer Production, you will be responsible for the development of high-end technological knowledge related to Industry 4.0 and the dissemination thereof within Damen.
You will closely follow the developments both in- and outside the company, staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in production optimization, robotics, process mining, and process simulations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Setting up, undertaking, and following up on research projects to support the innovation of our product range;
- Providing specific expert technical advice toward 'shipyard of the future' developments;
- Maintaining an overview of state-of-the-art technologies and implementation opportunities within Damen;
- Maintaining a network of and collaborating with knowledge institutes and suppliers;
- Verification and validation of developed technology 'in the field' and in laboratory environment.
Key Accountabilities
As a Research Engineer Production, you will be accountable for:
- Developing and implementing research projects to drive innovation and improvement in our product range;
- Providing technical expertise to support the development of 'shipyard of the future' concepts;
- Staying up-to-date with the latest technological advancements and identifying opportunities for implementation within Damen;
- Maintaining a strong network of knowledge institutes and suppliers to support research and development efforts;
- Validating and verifying developed technologies in both laboratory and field environments.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A Master's degree in Mechanical or Maritime Engineering, or equivalent;
- Relevant working experience is considered advantageous, but not required;
- Affinity with process simulations, data analysis, materials, and structures;
- The ability to collaborate with specialists from other fields of expertise;
- Independent and organized working style;
- A high level of proficiency in English, both verbally and in writing.
