Position Overview
The Medical Affairs Scientist (MAS) serves as the medical scientific authority for Pfizer within the therapeutic domains of Dermatology and Endocrinology. This role involves engaging with healthcare professionals (HCPs), medical associations, regulatory bodies, academic institutions, and other internal and external scientific stakeholders throughout the product lifecycle.
The MAS is tasked with upholding the highest scientific standards, ensuring that all medical and scientific external engagements are objective, balanced, and compliant with internal protocols. Optimizing customer-facing time is a key responsibility of the MAS, facilitated by platform roles.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop strategic collaborations with both internal and external key stakeholders throughout the lifecycle of Pfizer's therapeutic portfolio.
- Provide targeted, relevant information in response to customer needs to maintain a leadership position in therapy and address medical scientific requirements at national, regional, and corporate levels.
- Collaborate with high-level scientific Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) at a peer level.
- Influence the scientific landscape concerning protocols and guidelines.
- Identify and act upon clinical scientific opportunities.
- Recognize the scientific decision-making units and establish Pfizer as a credible partner.
- Lead medical communications in the field.
- Serve as a scientific expert for HCPs, medical societies, academia, and other key scientific stakeholders.
- Operate at a national level and be an integral member of the cluster medical network.
- Collaborate within cross-functional national and international teams to enhance the value of Pfizer's therapeutic portfolio.
- Provide medical-scientific insights to business units and co-create plans based on actionable customer insights.
- Design and implement medical scientific strategic plans in alignment with the therapeutic area.
- Define medical strategy and lead cross-functional projects with various internal stakeholders.
- Oversee therapeutic area-related medical projects, including budget management.
- Adhere to Pfizer's high standards of compliance, ethics, and product safety.
Candidate Profile
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences with 7 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree in Life Sciences with 6 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree and PhD in Life Sciences with 2 years of relevant experience.
- Relevant experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, academia, or postgraduate roles, preferably in related therapeutic areas.
- Proficiency in the local language and business English (minimum C1 level).
Competencies
- Ability to assimilate extensive scientific information rapidly, including critical evaluation of clinical studies and publications to distill key insights.
- Proficient in communicating complex scientific knowledge effectively.
- Capacity to engage and build sustainable relationships with stakeholders with social sensitivity.
- Strong understanding of the drug development process.
- Demonstrated business acumen, including decision-making and prioritization skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- A Medical Doctor or PhD is advantageous.
- Comprehensive understanding of the national and regional health landscape, including its structure, policies, key players, and scientific societies.
- In-depth knowledge of the therapeutic area, relevant medicines in the portfolio, and pipeline.
- Familiarity with the compliance framework governing medical interactions, including applicable regulations, Codes of Practice, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
