About the Role

The Financial Risk Management (FRM) team at FMO is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Software Engineering Intern to join our team. As an intern, you will play a crucial role in the design, implementation, testing, and maintenance of software solutions for financial risk models.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the mentoring financial risk manager in the design of a software development standard for the team.
  • Cross-team collaboration and communication to understand requirements from a variety of stakeholders.
  • Development and implementation of risk models as software solutions.
  • Collaborate closely with the mentor financial risk manager, the entire FRM team, and other colleagues to ensure alignment and coordination.
  • Track tasks with the mentor to ensure timely completion and adherence to timelines.

About the Team

The FRM team is responsible for assessing the risk that FMO is exposed to and ensuring that it remains within the risk appetite limits. We support FMO in delivering on its strategy within its financial means and regulatory boundaries. Our focus is not only to ensure that FMO operates within its risk appetite but also to enable new and innovative business initiatives, making sure all the relevant risks are properly factored, assessed, and mitigated if necessary.

About the Opportunity

This internship will provide you with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in software engineering and financial risk management. You will work closely with our experienced team members to develop and implement software solutions that meet the needs of our business.

Requirements

  • You are a currently a Bachelor's or Master's student and this internship is a requirement for your study (ECTS-eligible).
  • You have a background in computer science or software engineering.
  • You are available for three months, for 2 to 4 days per week, starting as soon as possible.
  • You have an interest in software applications in banking and risk management.
  • You possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • You are fluent in English.
  • You are based in the Netherlands.
