We are seeking a highly motivated PhD candidate to join our team at the Department of Methodology and Statistics, Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences, Universiteit Utrecht. The successful candidate will be part of a research project focused on Bayesian evaluation of single case experimental designs (SCEDs) for therapy effect evaluation.
Responsibilities- Develop, evaluate, and apply Bayesian evaluation of SCEDs to real data from ARQ Centrum'45;
- Develop open-access software in R for therapists and clinical psychologists to use the statistical tools developed;
- Write up findings for publication and present research at conferences and workshops;
- Be an active member of the PhD network IOPS, attending courses and giving presentations;
- Attend classes and seminars to further develop statistical and research skills;
- Conduct teaching (10% of the appointment), including undergraduate tutorials.
- Master's degree in Methodology and Statistics, data science, Econometrics, Psychometrics, or a related field;
- Programming skills in R;
- Adequate verbal and written communication skills in English;
- Interest in working in an interdisciplinary team with clinical psychologists, therapists, programmers, and statisticians;
- Interest in the problems of and mental health care for traumatised vulnerable groups.
The project 'Accelerating the development of effective psychological treatments for traumatised refugees using Bayesian methodology' is a collaboration between Utrecht University and ARQ. The project aims to further develop interventions for traumatised refugees and evaluate these in small-scale studies. The PhD project focused on Bayesian evaluation of SCEDs will contribute to this goal.
About the DepartmentThe Department of Methodology and Statistics is part of the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences at Universiteit Utrecht. The department is known for its research excellence in methodology and statistics, and its strong collaboration with other departments and institutions.
What We Offer- A position for four years (38 hours/week) or five years (30.4 hours/week) with a trial period of one year;
- A full-time gross monthly salary between €2,872 in the first year and €3,670 in the fourth year (salary scale P under the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities);
- 8% holiday pay and 8.3% year-end bonus;
- A pension scheme, partially paid parental leave, and flexible terms of employment based on the CAO NU.
