Director of Policy Research

The Asia Global Institute (AGI) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Policy Research to join its management team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the Institute's policy research work, developing and coordinating research agendas, and leading a team of researchers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement research agendas in areas such as new globalization, sustainable development, and digital economies;
  • Conduct high-quality policy research independently and in collaboration with external experts;
  • Plan and organize policy research conferences, workshops, and events;
  • Lead and oversee the work of internal and external researchers to produce high-quality research outputs;
  • Recruit, train, and supervise research staff, as well as identify and commission external policy analysts for research projects.

Qualifications and Qualities

  • A Ph.D. degree or other postgraduate degree in Economics, Finance, Political Science, International Relations, Global Development, or Public Policy;
  • Strong leadership and project management skills with at least five years of relevant working experience;
  • Proven ability and track record in publishing academic journals and policy-related publications;
  • Strong language skills in English, with additional Asian language skills an asset;
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Stata and R, with experience in manipulating and analyzing large datasets.

What We Offer

The appointment will be made on a fixed-term full-time contract for 2 years, with a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. Housing benefits will also be provided as applicable.
