Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Opportunities

The Global Center on Adaptation is seeking a highly skilled Senior Climate Adaptation Specialist to join its team in Rotterdam, the Netherlands or Nairobi, Kenya. This role will be pivotal in driving climate adaptation efforts across various infrastructure sectors.

Job Description

As our Senior Climate Adaptation Specialist, you will lead technical assistance projects in collaboration with top multilateral development banks, such as the African Development Bank and the World Bank. You will drive innovative and effective adaptation practices across transportation, energy, and critical ICT infrastructure sectors in Africa and Southeast Asia.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Technical Assistance Projects: Develop and implement diverse projects with MDBs, integrating climate adaptation into key infrastructure projects.
  • Collaborate for Impact: Work closely with MDB task teams and governmental stakeholders, focusing on sectors like transportation, energy, and critical ICT infrastructure.
  • Innovate in Adaptation: Play a proactive role in conceptualizing and supervising cutting-edge technical assistance projects.
  • Build Capacities: Coordinate with regional and international partners to strengthen national and local governments' capabilities.
  • Develop Knowledge and Networks: Engage in knowledge development related to infrastructure adaptation and resilience.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • A master's degree in environmental or civil engineering, or a closely related field emphasizing infrastructure development or climate resilience.
  • At least 3 to 7 years of experience in managing large-scale infrastructure resilience projects.
  • Excellent English proficiency, oral and written, to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders and report information at the executive level.
  • Skilled in facilitating processes and working efficiently in diverse team settings.

Estimated Salary Range: €60,000 - €80,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
