Position Overview

As a vital member of the BioTherapeutics Unit, you will engage in analytical tasks within the hospital pharmacy and collaborate with the research team led by John Haanen in the Division of Molecular Oncology & Immunology. We are seeking a motivated analyst who is passionate about the creation of T cell products intended for clinical use.

Our focus is on pioneering cellular immunotherapy techniques aimed at treating cancer patients, particularly through T cell therapies. T cells are extracted from either tumor tissue or blood samples from patients and may undergo genetic modifications in our specialized cleanroom environment. The T cell products we develop represent a new frontier in living medicines, with their safety and efficacy being rigorously evaluated in clinical trials at the NKI/AVL across various phases. The NKI/AVL is recognized nationally and internationally for its leadership in cellular immunotherapy advancements.

In this role, you will play an integral part in enhancing our T cell program as part of the NKI/AVL Center for Cellular Therapies. Our goal is to broaden access to T cell immunotherapy for a diverse patient population facing different cancer types. You will collaborate within a multidisciplinary team comprising analysts, pharmacists, physicians, researchers, and quality assurance professionals. Your primary responsibility will be the production of T cell products under stringent Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards in one of our cleanroom facilities. Future opportunities may also allow you to engage in product development and immune monitoring of patient samples in various cell therapy studies. Throughout your work, you will utilize a range of techniques, including cell culture, genetic modification, selection methods (such as CliniMACS), flow cytometry, and molecular analyses. Additionally, you will work closely with colleagues to ensure compliance with GMP quality assurance protocols.

Qualifications

  • A foundational education at the HLO level in fields such as immunology, cell biology, biotechnology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related discipline;
  • A keen interest in the generation of T cell products for clinical applications under GMP conditions;
  • Relevant experience in techniques such as cell culture and various analytical methods (e.g., flow cytometry);
  • Strong communication skills, attention to detail, a commitment to quality, and a proactive, adaptable approach.

Compensation and Benefits

Based on your experience, your salary will range from € 2.554,- to € 3.468,- gross per month, calculated on a 36-hour workweek, in accordance with the FWG 45 job scale. Employment conditions are aligned with the collective labor agreement for hospitals.

Additional benefits include 8.33% holiday pay and a fixed year-end bonus of 8.33%. You will also receive a travel allowance of € 0.19 per kilometer.
