About the Position
We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join our team at the Universiteit van Amsterdam, working on the development of a new platform for quantum computing based on trapped ions and optical tweezers.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research on the use of tightly focused laser beams and their interaction with crystals of trapped ions to realize new ways to prepare and control qubits.
- Explore the optical Magnus effect and its application in trapped ions to implement state-of-the-art quantum gates.
- Design and develop ion traps based on integrated photonics for tweezer delivery.
- Collaborate with the team to advance the scalability of the scheme.
Requirements
- PhD in experimental physics or physical chemistry.
- Previous laboratory experience with trapped ions or optical tweezers for cold atoms.
- Excellent communication skills in English.
- Scientific publications.
What We Offer
- A temporary employment contract for 38 hours per week for a period of 24 months.
- A gross monthly salary, based on 38 hours per week and dependent on relevant experience, ranging between € 3, to € 5, (scale 10).
- A favourable tax agreement, the '30% ruling', may apply to non-Dutch applicants.
- A comprehensive package of secondary employment benefits, including holiday hours, courses, and a pension.
