PhD Researcher in Value-Sensitive Design for AI-Assisted Decision-Making

We are seeking a highly motivated PhD researcher to explore the intersection of AI, ethics, and human-computer interaction in the context of crisis management. The successful candidate will analyze how AI can be designed and deployed to align with values such as transparency, explainability, and trust.
Scope of the ResearchThe project involves four phases:
- Formalization of Principles: Define and analyze key concepts of transparency, explainability, and trust in human-agent collaborations, particularly in the context of crowd crises.
- Data Governance in Emergency Regulations: Explore the implications of legal frameworks such as the GDPR and the EU AI Act on AI design, emphasizing privacy and ethical compliance.
- Trust and "Human in the Loop": Investigate human oversight in AI decision-making to enhance trust and reliability, particularly in urgent situations.
- Design Principles & Framework Formulation and Testing: Develop a comprehensive framework that aligns with ethical guidelines, GDPR, and the proposed EU's AI Act, focusing on the nuances of crowd crises.
