As a researcher, you will be responsible for investigating the influence of specimen size on residual stress distribution in rails and developing a method to predict residual stress distribution in full rails based on small specimen measurements.
Key responsibilities- Conduct a literature review on state-of-the-art residual stress measurement techniques and residual stress fields in rails
- Develop a numerical model to simulate residual stress distribution in rails and predict residual stress distribution in full rails based on small specimen measurements
- Design and conduct experiments to validate the numerical model and propose an experimental method to overcome the problem of residual stress redistribution in small specimens
- Master's degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, maritime engineering, architecture, or the built environment
- Strong background in numerical modeling and residual stress analysis
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
