Department Insights
The Cleanliness of Parts group operates under the Defectivity Department, providing essential support to ASML, its suppliers, and cleaning service providers. The team is dedicated to the design, manufacturing, assembly, cleaning, and verification of components, modules, and systems that adhere to cleanliness standards to satisfy customer expectations.
To achieve this, the Cleanliness of Parts group develops a variety of measurement methodologies to assess the cleanliness of components, including a specialized tool for evaluating surface particle cleanliness.
Your Role
During your internship, you will delve into the behavior of particle contamination on surfaces and the underlying mechanisms of the verification methods. Your responsibilities will include:
- Creating techniques for particle deposition to simulate contamination on various surfaces.
- Assessing the effectiveness of measurement tools designed to evaluate surface cleanliness concerning particles.
As an intern, you will take ownership of the methodologies and documentation necessary to apply your acquired knowledge to contamination assessments conducted at ASML and throughout our supply chain. You will also gain hands-on experience in our cleanroom facilities.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate for this internship will possess the following qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a program related to Physics, Material Science, Chemistry, or Engineering.
- A bachelor’s student (thesis or apprenticeship) or a master’s student seeking practical experience.
- A strong interest in surface and interfacial chemistry as well as materials chemistry.
- A desire to transition processes from research and development to production.
- Familiarity with software tools for statistical analysis.
- Experience in cleanroom environments, SEM-EDX measurements, and various spectroscopic techniques (UV/Vis, fluorescence, NMR, FTIR) is advantageous.
- Demonstrated analytical skills and a solution-oriented mindset.
- Effective communication and networking abilities.
Additional Requirements
- Availability for a minimum of 5 days per week for at least 6 months.
- Enrollment in an educational institution for the entire duration of the internship.
- Residence in the Netherlands for the internship period.
