This position is part of a collaborative research project to develop a novel type of photo-chemical reactor. The project aims to design and fabricate a micro reactor for sustainable flow chemistry, combining expertise in optical fiber design, laser structuring of glass materials, and flow chemistry.
The project focuses on investigating the effect of plasmonic metal nanoparticles in enhancing photocatalysis inside optical fiber reactors. Operando techniques will be employed to monitor chemical reactions in space and time, including scanning probe and spectroscopic methods.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct operando characterization of plasmonic-based photo-reactors
- Investigate the effect of plasmonic metal nanoparticles on photocatalysis
- Develop and implement operando techniques for monitoring chemical reactions
- Collaborate with consortium partners on project activities
- PhD in physics, chemistry, or a related field
- Experience in photo-chemistry, operando spectroscopy, and/or plasmonics
- Excellent verbal and written English skills
AMOLF is a research institute that initiates and performs leading fundamental research on the physics of complex forms of matter. The institute is located at Amsterdam Science Park and employs about 140 researchers and 80 support employees.
Working Conditions- Full-time appointment (40 hours/week, 12 months/year)
