Job Description

The Postdoctoral Researcher will be part of a collaborative project at AMOLF, investigating the real-time dynamics of single ribosomes. The research involves using optical tweezers and single-molecule fluorescence to visualize the translation activity of ribosomes, their interactions, and the folding of individual polypeptide chains. The successful candidate will work in an international team, collaborating with groups at Heidelberg University and the ETH in Zurich, to elucidate the fundamental mechanisms underlying protein production.

Work Activities
  • Design and perform innovative experiments to investigate the dynamics of single ribosomes
  • Develop and apply new experimental schemes using optical tweezers and single-molecule fluorescence
  • Analyze complex temporal data and formulate new models to explain the findings
  • Collaborate with the international team to integrate approaches and provide insights of unprecedented detail
Qualifications

We are seeking an outstanding experimental physicist or chemist with a strong background in single-molecule techniques, programming skills, and a passion for making breakthrough findings. Excellent verbal and written English skills are essential.
