We are seeking a highly motivated PhD researcher to join our team at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.

Job Description

This PhD position is part of the EU-funded Marie Skłodowska Curie Doctoral Network (DN) "MeChaNiSM", which brings together 8 partners and supports up to 15 PhD students in the field of nucleic acids chemistry and biophysics.

The successful candidate will be working on an exciting research project that aims to develop new single-molecule biophysics techniques to investigate critical questions regarding the structure, dynamics, function, and interactions of nucleic acids.

As a PhD researcher, you will have the opportunity to work closely with our experienced researchers and participate in network-wide training in both scientific and transferable skills at different locations throughout Europe.

The MeChaNiSM Doctoral Network offers a unique opportunity for students to contribute to cutting-edge research in the field of single-molecule biophysics and gain valuable experience in experimental design, data analysis, and scientific communication.

We offer a competitive salary of €3,670.00 gross per month, as well as additional benefits such as a holiday leave entitlement, holiday allowance, and end-of-year bonus.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be eligible for this position, you must hold a Master's degree in organic chemistry, biochemistry, biophysics, or a related field, and have excellent experimental skills as well as good team spirit.

You should also have a strong interest in single-molecule biophysics and nucleic acid research, and be able to communicate effectively in English.
