The successful candidate will contribute to groundbreaking studies on the real-time dynamics of single ribosomes, using cutting-edge optical tweezers and single-molecule fluorescence methods.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in experimental physics or chemistry, with experience in handling complex data and programming skills. They will be part of an international collaboration with leading groups at Heidelberg University and ETH Zurich, working together to elucidate the fundamental mechanisms underlying protein production.
About the JobThis is a full-time appointment (40 hours/week, 12 months/year) as a PhD researcher at Delft University of Technology. The starting salary is €27,781 per month, with a range of benefits, including funding for international conferences, courses, and housing support for new foreign employees.
The position involves innovative experimental research, data analysis, and collaboration with international teams. The successful candidate will work closely with Prof. dr. ir. Sander Tans and other researchers in the Tans group, contributing to their pioneering work on chaperone-guided protein folding.
Qualifications and SkillsTo be eligible, candidates should hold a Master's degree and meet the requirements for a Dutch PhD examination. Essential skills include expertise in single-molecule techniques, programming skills, and the ability to handle complex data. Excellent verbal and written English skills are also required.
