Position Overview

The Director of Commercial & Industrial Solutions plays a pivotal role in advancing SMA's C&I business across targeted markets. This position is essential for nurturing and sustaining robust partnerships with key stakeholders, ensuring alignment with market demands.

Core Responsibilities

  • Direct the sales and revenue initiatives for the Commercial & Industrial sector, collaborating closely with the global C&I leadership and regional teams.
  • Gather and assess market intelligence to inform strategic decisions and segment growth.
  • Formulate and execute strategic plans that align with the overarching C&I strategy, positioning SMA as a comprehensive solution provider.
  • Oversee financial metrics, performance indicators, and forecast accuracy for assigned markets.
  • Develop insights into various customer segments, focusing on targeted C&I verticals.
  • Facilitate the effective distribution of the C&I solution portfolio through established and emerging sales channels.
  • Establish enduring relationships within the industry by maintaining regular communication with key clients and partners.
  • Foster a customer-centric approach within the team to enhance the overall customer experience and meet local segment objectives.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Sales Enablement to ensure effective messaging and value propositions in local markets.
  • Report directly to the Vice President of C&I Solutions for Western & Southern Europe.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Advanced degree in Business or Engineering, with a strong inclination towards technical products.
  • A minimum of 7 years in sales or business development, particularly within the Renewable Energy sector.
  • Experience in a matrixed industrial environment, ideally within renewable energy or related fields.
  • Proven track record in contract negotiation and relationship management with clients and partners.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and leadership abilities, with a strong focus on emotional intelligence and team motivation.
  • Fluency in English is essential; proficiency in Italian, French, or Spanish is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated customer orientation, adaptability, and the ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to travel internationally.

  • Reports to the Vice President of C&I Solutions for Western & Southern Europe.
