About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Freelance Transcriber to join our team at the International Criminal Court (ICC). As a Freelance Transcriber, you will play a crucial role in supporting the ICC's mandate by transcribing audio and video recordings related to legal proceedings.

Job Description

The Freelance Transcriber will be responsible for producing high-quality transcripts from audio or video recordings, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail. The successful candidate will have excellent language skills, particularly in Pashto and/or Dari, and a working knowledge of English.

Key Responsibilities
  • Transcribe audio and video recordings with high accuracy and attention to detail;
  • Consult with the LSU Transcription team to clarify ambiguities and provide feedback;
  • Apply feedback to ensure delivery of quality products;
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with care;
  • Meet deadlines and deliver work on time.
Requirements
  • Languages: Proficiency in listening to, understanding, and writing Pashto and/or Dari; Working knowledge of English;
  • Experience: Prior experience in transcription or any other language-related profession, ideally in a legal setting;
  • Skills and Abilities: Good computer and information technology skills; Attention to detail with information and data accuracy; Respect for information confidentiality; Ability to deliver on deadline.
Working Conditions

The Freelance Transcriber will work remotely, using their own equipment and software. They must be able to adapt to changing circumstances and prioritize tasks effectively.

Compensation

The estimated annual salary for this position is $55,000-$65,000, depending on location and experience.
