Project Overview
The VU Amsterdam is seeking a highly motivated PhD student to join our research team in the Department of Functional Genomics. The successful candidate will be part of an international research network and will contribute to the development of novel methods for analyzing cellular neuroscience.
Research Focus
The PhD student will work on a project focused on unraveling the mechanisms of neuropeptide signaling in human brain. This project aims to understand the biogenesis, trafficking, and secretion of neuropeptides in neurons, using human iPSC-derived neurons and genetically encoded reporters. The candidate will use life cell imaging to analyze DCV trafficking and secretion in human models.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research on neuropeptide signaling in human brain
- Develop and implement novel methods for analyzing cellular neuroscience
- Collaborate with international research networks
- Contribute to the development of research projects
Requirements
- Master's degree in biomedical sciences, with a specialization in neuroscience
- Previous experience in molecular and cellular neuroscience
- Hands-on experience with image analysis and programming
- Motivation to pursue a career in science
