About the Role

Damen Naval is seeking a skilled Technical Specialist Hydrodynamics to join our team. As a key member of our Naval and Technology department, you will be responsible for the development, advice, and engineering of hydrodynamic systems for complex naval shipbuilding projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with design teams to optimize hydrodynamic performance during proposal and engineering phases.
  • Conduct hydrodynamic simulations, model tests, and sea trials to ensure designs meet performance standards.
  • Collaborate with clients, suppliers, and research institutes to incorporate hydrodynamic insights into the design process.
  • Collect and analyze operational data to validate and refine hydrodynamic performance and enhance future projects.
  • Develop innovative methods and tools in collaboration with academic and research partners.
  • Provide technical expertise on resistance, propulsion, maneuverability, seakeeping, and smoke simulations using specialized software packages.

Requirements

  • Master degree in Naval Architecture or a related field, with at least five years of practical experience in hydrodynamics, focusing on proposal and engineering phases.
  • Thorough understanding of fluid dynamics, particularly in complex naval projects.
  • Experience working in complex project environments and with academic research, including the creation of new methods and tools.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to interact with research institutes, universities, engineers, and project managers in the naval shipbuilding industry.
  • Competencies: customer orientation, results and quality orientation, teamwork, creativity, initiative, and critical thinking.
  • Fluency in both Dutch and English (written and verbal).
  • Excellent references and antecedents, with a permanent EU nationality and passport.
