We are seeking a highly motivated PhD researcher to join our team at Universiteit Utrecht. The successful candidate will be part of a research project focused on designing safe sports environments through the use of AI and serious gaming.
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, and test educational tools to foster safe sports environments, including serious games and AI-operated Dialogue Trainers;
- Conduct research on the impact of these tools on promoting safe sports environments and bystander behavior;
- Collaborate with a research team of internationally recognized experts and societal partners to develop and implement the research project;
- Participate in the Graduate School of the Faculty of Law, Economics and Governance (LEG) and the PhD programme of the Netherlands Institute of Governance (NIG);
- Contribute to the development of papers for presentation at international scientific conferences and submission to international refereed journals;
- Disseminate research results to the wider public through symposia, webinars, and workshops.
- A (research) Master's degree in sports studies, sports management, sports sociology, (forensic) psychology, public administration, organisation sciences, or a related social science discipline;
- A strong interest in bridging the gap between social science and technology or design science;
- Excellent English language skills, both in speaking and writing. Dutch language skills are a plus;
- Experience with both quantitative and qualitative research methods, as well as programming and machine learning;
- A team player with a substantial degree of independence.
- A position with a large degree of freedom and high engagement with societal relevant partners to create impact with your research;
- The opportunity to develop yourself as a scholar, with a small amount of teaching (10% of your time as part of your PhD) contributing to this;
- A working week of 38 hours and a gross monthly salary between €2,872 and €3,670 in the case of full-time employment;
- 8% holiday pay and 8.3% year-end bonus;
- A pension scheme, partially paid parental leave, and flexible terms of employment based on the CAO NU.
