About the Position
We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our team at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam in the social psychology section of the Department of Experimental and Applied Psychology. The position is part of the ERC Consolidator Grant NONPHARM: "The Psychological Underpinnings of Nonpharmaceutical Interventions".
The Research Project
Infectious diseases have a significant impact on well-being, economies, and global health. Nonpharmaceutical interventions (NPIs) can reduce the spread of pathogens, but their effectiveness depends on various factors. Our research aims to increase knowledge of how and why people engage in NPIs, such as handwashing, social isolation, and creating barriers to respiratory droplets and aerosols.
Your Responsibilities
- Conduct literature reviews and analyze data
- Work with the PI to design and execute studies
- Coordinate with collaborators and communicate with a panel research agency
- Manage and analyze data, and assist or lead manuscript preparation
Your Profile
- PhD in social, cultural, or evolutionary psychology (or related field)
- Excellent data-analytic skills and ability to engage in effective scientific writing
- Demonstrated ability to think and work outside-the-box and excellent command of English
- A background in the evolutionary social sciences and experience with cross-cultural research and familiarity with literature on disgust, pathogen avoidance, sickness behavior, or hygiene is a plus

What We Offer

- A salary of minimum € 3,000.00 (Scale 10) and maximum € 5,000.00 (Scale 10) gross per month, on a full-time basis
- A position for at least 1 FTE, with the possibility of expansion
- Attractive fringe benefits and regulations, including a full-time 38-hour working week, holiday leave entitlement, 8% holiday allowance, and 8.3% end-of-year bonus
