Researcher in Cultural Psychology: Investigating Gendered Emotions

The Universiteit van Amsterdam is seeking a highly motivated PhD candidate to join our research team in the field of social and cultural psychology. The successful candidate will be part of a Starter+Stimulus Grant Project that aims to investigate gendered emotion expression across cultures.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct research and complete a PhD thesis within the period of appointment;
- Conceptualize and plan empirical studies on the project topic;
- Draft pre-registrations and submit ethics reviews;
- Learn and execute innovative quantitative techniques, including multi-level modeling, scraping of social media data, and natural language processing models;
- Present research results at national and international workshops and conferences;
- Draft articles for publication in peer-reviewed journals;
- Actively participate in the Social Psychology Programme Group, project group, and wider scientific community through collaborations, workshops, and presentations;
- 5% of your time will be spent teaching and/or supervising Bachelor and Master theses.
- Master's degree in psychology or closely related field by the time of appointment;
- Strong background in social and/or cultural psychology;
- Excellent writing and presentation skills in English;
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently;
- Highly motivated to research gender, culture, and emotions.
- A temporary full-time position of 38 hours a week for a term of 4 years;
- Initial employment for one year, extendable by a maximum of 36 months;
- Salary €2,000,- gross per month in the first year, increasing to €3,000,- in the final year;
