In this project, we aim to enhance the resilience of multimodal logistics by developing a platform that supports the transition to synchromodal corridors. This involves sharing data and developing interorganizational processes to mitigate risks and reduce the cascading effects of reverse modal shift.
Main Objectives- Develop a resilience toolbox to support companies and public stakeholders in developing resilient corridors, focusing on transforming existing corridors.
- Design and develop a digital twin for resilient multimodal corridors, enabling the use of the best modality at any moment.
This PhD position focuses on the first objective, conducting fundamental and industrial research on resilience in multimodal logistics. The research will contribute to the development of new quantitative and qualitative methods and techniques, as well as organizational strategies, capabilities, and interventions to improve resilience.
Requirements- Master's degree or equivalent in industrial engineering, management science, operations research, operations management, or information systems and computer science-related engineering field.
- Affinity and/or experience with Resilience, Multimodal Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Digital Twinning, and Data-driven Decision Making.
- Good team spirit and ability to work in an interdisciplinary and internationally oriented environment.
- Able to do independent research and willing to develop writing and publication skills.
- Strong passion for developing positive societal impact and excellent collaboration skills.
- Excellent communication skills and a strong command of English.
We offer a full-time 4-year PhD position with a qualifier in the first year, excellent mentorship in a stimulating research environment, and a personal development program within the Twente Graduate School. The position includes a gross monthly salary of € 2.770 in the first year, increasing each year up to € 3.539 in the fourth year, as well as excellent benefits and a green campus with free access to sports facilities and an international scientific community.
