Job Title: PhD Position in Microkinetic Modeling for Water Splitting
Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and talented PhD student to work on microkinetic modeling for water splitting. The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic and ambitious university, working in an interdisciplinary setting and within an international network.
Responsibilities and Tasks:- Build microkinetic models for water splitting, including nonlinear optimization schemes to translate impedance spectra into physico-chemical quantities.
- Simulate electrochemical data and validate models using system identification techniques.
- Extend models to estimate experimental data.
- Identify limiting processes at the interface in collaboration with the experimental PhD student.
- Collaborate with researchers from the Control Systems group and other scientific groups to discuss research and broaden knowledge and expertise.
- Connect data to machine learning and artificial intelligence databases.
- Involve students in the project and supervise them.
- Disseminate research output at conferences and with scientific papers.
- Enthusiastic and talented control or system identification engineer with experience or affinity to chemistry.
- Alternatively, background in chemical modeling, microkinetic modeling, or theoretical physical chemistry/electrochemistry with affinity to modeling and simulations.
- Knowledge in electrochemical methods is desired.
- Excellent team player with superb communication skills and motivation to discuss science in a highly multidisciplinary field.
- Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Full-time employment for four years, with an intermediate evaluation after nine months.
