Overview of Your Role
What will your responsibilities include?
This is a leadership position at Idean. You are expected to enhance Idean's reputation, business, and team through Project Leadership, Business Development, and Design Leadership.
Project Leadership:
You will take primary responsibility for project execution as the day-to-day engagement leader (with oversight from higher-level directors on larger, more complex initiatives) and guide teams of designers, strategists, business consultants, technologists, and program managers. You will build, nurture, and maintain relationships with clients while advising and supporting the Idean project team with leadership and hands-on involvement. You will navigate every phase of the project lifecycle to ensure that outcomes and deliverables align with both user needs and client business objectives. You should be enthusiastic about involving and collaborating with clients in the creative process, highly responsive to feedback, and eager to present your team's concepts to executives.
Typical Project Responsibilities:
Lead a project team to achieve optimal performance while maintaining timelines and team cohesion. Establish quality benchmarks, with a thorough understanding of the client's objectives, business requirements, and constraints, for qualitative foundational and evaluative research, insight development, experience model creation (e.g., customer journeys, behavioral archetypes, service blueprints, etc.), design, and testing. Lead and contribute to generating insights, defining, and prioritizing opportunity areas, and envisioning concepts. Lead and contribute to establishing meaningful customer/user feedback loops through iterative build-test-learn cycles. Lead and contribute to prioritizing MVP features, developing a backlog, and creating strategic product roadmaps. Support and guide the implementation to bring new products to fruition.Business Development:
Collaborate on business development initiatives with our BD and Go-to-Market Teams and fellow discipline leaders - crafting strategies, writing proposals, and presenting to potential clients. Ensure that the projects you lead extend beyond their initial scopes and identify additional opportunities within the client's organization. Generate content for Idean's demand generation efforts and establish yourself as a thought leader in your field.Design Leadership:
You will be a part of the design leadership within your studio and help foster the design culture and team. Specifically:
Manage direct reports and mentor junior colleagues, providing guidance and support for their development, along with specific and actionable feedback. Participate in talent acquisition, either as a hiring manager or as a member of hiring teams.Your Base at Capgemini Invent

7-12 years of professional experience in human-centered design consulting, with specific expertise in one or more areas of the product development lifecycle, such as Visual Design, Interaction Design, Service Design, Product Design, Design Strategy, or Experience Design. A strong affinity with Idean's values and a passion for creating products that fulfill both functional and emotional needs. A proven track record as a design leader and contributor to experience strategies, design systems, products, services, and customer experiences that delight users and achieve business objectives. High satisfaction ratings from peers, end-users, or clients regarding the work products you have created. Strong leadership and collaboration skills, with the ability to guide high-performing teams through persuasion and influence rather than command and control. Excellent presentation and storytelling abilities. Willingness to travel for research, project execution, and client meetings. Proficiency in English and Dutch at a business level. Proficiency in Dutch (at least B2 level) and residence in the Netherlands is essential for this role.It would be advantageous if you had:
A university degree in Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related design or behavioral science discipline. Experience in various organizational settings (start-up, corporate, agency/consultancy). Academic, professional, or life experiences outside the design field that enrich your perspective as a designer. Published thought leadership, with a history of presenting and teaching in public forums and a social media presence.
