About the Position

We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our team at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. The successful candidate will conduct ethnographic research on the impact of robots on work practices, focusing on the development and use of robotics in various work settings.

The postdoctoral researcher will work under the supervision of Dr. Anastasia V. Sergeeva and be based at the KIN Center for Digital Innovation. The research center is a hub for interdisciplinary research on the development, use, and business value of innovative organizational processes and technologies.

The successful candidate will design and conduct ethnographic studies, perform fieldwork, conduct literature reviews, write research papers, and present at conferences. They will also contribute to teaching and collaborate with industry partners to disseminate their findings.

About the Research

The research aims to generate a rigorous understanding of how robots are used in situated work practice. This knowledge will inform the development of robotic applications that take into account the work context. The postdoctoral researcher will work closely with industry partners to ensure that the research is relevant and impactful.

The research will focus on the following areas:

  • Design and development of robotic applications
  • Use of robotics in various work settings
  • Impact of robots on work practices and jobs
About the Candidate

We are looking for a candidate with a PhD in a relevant field, such as business administration, management, sociology, or related social science. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with qualitative inductive research methods and ethnographic research. They will also have excellent academic skills, motivation to conduct high-quality qualitative research, and the ability to combine creative and analytical thinking.

The candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team, and have excellent communication and collaboration skills. They will also have a strong understanding of the research context and be able to contribute to the development of the research agenda.
