Applications are invited for the position of Communications Specialist (at the rank of Executive Officer) in the Journalism and Media Studies Centre.
The selected candidate will play a crucial role in overseeing a wide range of communication and marketing initiatives for the Centre. Key responsibilities include:
• Developing and executing comprehensive communication and marketing plans to enhance the Centre's profile and activities;
• Crafting and producing promotional materials, which encompass website content, social media updates, brochures, flyers, and newsletters;
• Organizing and promoting the Centre's events, such as conferences, seminars, and workshops;
• Seeking out and facilitating external engagement opportunities, including outreach and Knowledge Exchange activities, to boost the Centre's visibility while analyzing metrics to refine branding strategies;
• Cultivating a robust alumni network by improving alumni relations and maintaining an accurate alumni database for effective communication; and
• Undertaking additional responsibilities as assigned by the Centre.
Candidates should hold a Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related discipline, with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a communications or marketing capacity, ideally within a journalism or media context. Proficiency in English writing, editing, and verbal communication is essential, with written Chinese being a beneficial asset. A solid grasp of social media and digital marketing, along with strong IT skills including familiarity with website content management and graphic design tools such as Wordpress, Mailchimp, Canvas, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator, is required. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, along with strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilities, are vital for this role.
The position will be offered on a fixed-term full-time contract for two years, commencing as soon as possible, with the potential for renewal based on performance. A competitive salary aligned with qualifications and experience will be provided, along with annual leave and medical benefits. Fixed-term appointments will also include a contract-end gratuity and contributions to a retirement benefits scheme, amounting to up to 10% of the basic salary. Additional benefits encompass annual leave and medical coverage.
