The Team
The European Buying Team holds complete responsibility for Product Assortment & Strategy for Full Price Stores, SIS, and e-Concessions across Europe. Collaborating closely with Merchandise Planning, Trade & Allocation Teams, the Buying Team evaluates performance, maintains regular communication with Stores and Markets, and translates insights into immediate commercial and strategic actions. The team's mission is to curate the most compelling product assortments that align with PVH's objectives and DTC Strategy while ensuring the Global Brand Vision is effectively implemented throughout Europe. This dynamic, open, diverse, and respectful team environment fosters a strong Retail culture, ensuring that the needs of Full Price Retail are prioritized to enhance sales and create an inspiring shopping experience.
The Position
Reporting to the Buying Director, the Senior Buying Manager will oversee the Men's division. Key responsibilities encompass developing, refining, and managing top-tier product strategies, business processes, and merchandising frameworks that contribute to the sustainable growth of Calvin Klein in the EU Region. We seek a highly experienced professional who values quality, pays attention to both details and the broader picture, can swiftly convert information into actionable insights, possesses a keen eye for product, and is motivated by change. Establishing essential cross-functional relationships is vital for achieving team objectives. This role demands exceptional interpersonal and people management skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Formulate the European merchandise strategy by analyzing future trends, assessing current business performance, and gathering feedback from directly operated Stores, Brand Partners, and regional markets.
- Collaborate with Global & European Product Teams to identify potential gaps in the line plan and propose enhancements to the assortment for the market.
- Oversee all buying activities within your area of responsibility, from providing timely and relevant feedback during Collection development to market preparation, execution, and post-market analysis.
- Develop aligned assortments in partnership with Ecom to boost DTC business and consumer messaging.
- Evaluate seasonal assortments (collections) against the merchandise strategy to ensure alignment with company targets.
- Keep relevant departments and affiliated offices updated on key global product initiatives, ensuring proper launch according to the agreed plan.
- Work with Merchandise Planning to oversee annual and seasonal budgets and inventory plans by country.
- Prepare market presentations that outline line and product direction, style assortments, and pricing strategies.
- Analyze sales performance and inventory levels by market.
- Provide essential product knowledge support to Stores to enhance sales and service, generating excitement within our retail channels.
- Maintain close communication with stakeholders to continuously understand buying trends, competitor developments, consumer insights, and more.
- Guide team members across all functions towards achieving business and profitability goals; monitor progress and devise strategies to address challenges as they arise.
- Lead and effectively communicate with a team of Retail Merchandisers/Buyers at various levels, focusing on team building, coaching, and training.
- Cultivate a high-performing team through talent development; establish individual and team goals based on performance metrics; monitor performance and provide clear, frequent feedback.
- Anticipate and prepare for future business and organizational needs.
- Take a leading role in the Calvin Klein Men's division, demonstrating ownership and pride in product, processes, relationships, and results.
The Ideal Candidate:
- A minimum of 12+ years of relevant experience in the industry.
- Excellent communication skills with proficiency in English (both written and spoken); additional European languages are advantageous.
- Ability to work independently and proactively.
- Detail-oriented with a passion for accuracy and presentation.
- A collaborative team player with a positive attitude and adaptability to change.
- Hardworking, flexible, capable of multitasking, solution-oriented, and able to prioritize effectively.
