Job Description

The Erasmus School of Social and Behavioral Sciences is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to contribute to its research in urban greening and sustainability initiatives. As a postdoctoral researcher, you will be part of a dynamic and interdisciplinary team working on a European project focused on urban greening and sustainability.

The project aims to develop effective green spaces to address environmental challenges in Rotterdam, a city facing significant environmental risks due to rising water levels, increased rainfall, and soil sealing. The project takes a collaborative and inclusive approach, involving residents, private owners, and the city government to create a fully integrated solution addressing environmental, social, and economic factors.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Participating in the European project from a social and behavioral sciences perspective, focusing on the inclusion of social, economic, and environmental values of residents and stakeholders.
  • Monitoring the social, economic, and environmental values and aspects to develop greening ambitions and initiatives for the neighborhood.
  • Participating in teaching and research programs at the department of public administration and sociology.
  • Publishing research findings in international scientific journals.
  • Contributing to the development of collaboration with actors in the city and region of Rotterdam.

The ideal candidate will have a PhD degree in a relevant discipline, experience with qualitative and quantitative research methods, and a commitment to engaged and impact-driven research. You will also have excellent communication skills, be a team player, and have experience with interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research.
