The RoleWe are seeking a highly skilled Design and Proposal Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our naval architecture department, you will be responsible for translating customer requirements into vessel designs and specifications. Your expertise will be essential in preparing ship designs, calculating costs, and determining delivery times through close collaboration with other departments.
Key Responsibilities- Design vessels in accordance with client criteria;
- Provide technical support to the Damen Sales organization during the contracting process;
- Optimize (standard) designs to lower prices and enhance quality, reliability, and functionality;
- Liaise with internal departments and external parties for optimal project results;
- Keep track of overall progress in the pre-sales phase;
- Manage internal stakeholders;
- Develop and optimize products, including market research and concept design;
- Set up project planning, calculate supplemental work and cost savings, and prepare lists of deviations and client-specific data;
- Prepare ship designs, specifications, cost calculations, and build strategies for sales prospects;
- Bachelor or Master degree in Marine Engineering or Naval Architecture;
- Work experience in ship design preferred, dependent on entry level;
- Customer-orientation, flexibility, and ability to work on various projects simultaneously;
- Excellent communication skills in English and preferably in Dutch;
- Ability to express yourself well in a business conversation;
- Willingness to travel to clients worldwide;
