We are seeking an Assistant Professor to lead the Computer-Aided Drug Design (CADD) group within the Medicinal Chemistry division at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. The successful candidate will develop methodologies in molecular modeling, data management, and machine learning to advance the understanding of ligand-protein interactions.
The candidate will have a background in drug development, medicinal chemistry, and computational chemistry, with expertise in both ligand-based and structure-based drug discovery. The role requires interdisciplinary collaboration within the division, working closely with synthetic chemists and molecular pharmacologists.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and apply computational techniques for protein structure predictions, molecular dynamics, docking, virtual screening, and structural chemogenomics.
- Manage and analyze large datasets using cheminformatics and bioinformatics tools.
- Model G-protein coupled receptors and enzymes using computational methods.
- Design and implement machine learning algorithms for drug discovery.
- Collaborate with researchers and students to advance the understanding of ligand-protein interactions.
- PhD in a relevant field (e.g., computational chemistry, medicinal chemistry, bioinformatics).
- Experience in developing and applying computational techniques for drug discovery.
- Strong publication record in reputable scientific journals.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to motivate and teach graduate and undergraduate students.
