About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Advocacy Coordinator to join our team in the Netherlands. As a key member of our global office, you will play a crucial role in developing and executing an effective advocacy agenda in the Netherlands and the EU.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a Hivos-wide advocacy agenda in the Netherlands, aligning messaging and coordinating efforts with colleagues in The Hague and regional offices.
  • Ensure the agenda is based on the priorities identified by our program community and advocate on behalf of our organization and the people we work with around the world.
  • Identify key issues and create entry points and interventions to generate space and support for Hivos' strategies, ideas, and activities with key decision-makers.
  • Mobilize forces with people and organizations in the Netherlands and at EU-level, developing effective advocacy activities and coalitions.
  • Keep an eye on newsworthy developments, trends, and policy changes, coordinating a swift response on behalf of Hivos through opinion pieces, blogs, or press releases.
  • Commission and guide research and other knowledge products to strengthen Hivos' views and thought leadership.
Requirements
  • Extensive experience in developing effective advocacy strategies.
  • Strong political interest and ability to translate external intelligence into timely and actionable tactics and demands.
  • Experience in working in and with coalitions.
  • Up-to-date network within Dutch civil society and great relations with potential Hivos allies.
  • Ability to balance coordinating tasks with hands-on work, such as writing, organizing, and curating.
  • Sensitivity to intercultural collaboration.
What We Offer

In this position, you will work at our Global Office in the city center of The Hague, closely working with the communication team and advocacy specialists. You will be part of an international community of highly motivated and dedicated people. The gross salary range we offer is between € 4,155.52 and € 5,661.60 per month based on a 36-hour workweek (a 32-hour week is negotiable). We'll take care of a laptop and travel expenses according to our commuting policies. Hivos works according to a 50/50 schedule, allowing you to work from home 50% of your contract hours.
