We are seeking an exceptional researcher to join our faculty at Universiteit van Amsterdam, specializing in quantum computing. As a member of our team, you will contribute to the development of our research program and play a key role in shaping the future of quantum computing.
Responsibilities- Conduct cutting-edge research in quantum computing, with a focus on one or more of the following subareas: quantum information, quantum computation, or quantum simulation.
- Develop and lead an independent research program, with a strong track record of securing funding and supervising PhD students and postdocs.
- Contribute to the teaching of quantum computer science, with a passion for inspiring and educating the next generation of researchers.
- Collaborate with colleagues across different fields of interest, including computer science, mathematics, physics, and chemistry.
- PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field.
- Proven track record of publications in international refereed academic journals and conference proceedings.
- Experience in supporting tasks and willingness to take on administrative responsibilities, such as organization and coordination of university education and research.
- Professional command of English and willingness to learn Dutch.
- Experience in acquiring funding for research projects through government agencies or the private sector.
- Experience in supervising PhD research.
- Experience with scientific leadership and organizational tasks, such as conference/workshop organization, committee leadership, etc.
- Experience with outreach activities and science communication.
Start dates are negotiable, and the positions will be filled either as tenure-track (assistant professor) or permanent (associate professor; in exceptional cases, full professorship can be considered). Depending on qualifications and experience, the starting salary will be in scale 11 or 12 and will range from a minimum of € 4,,- gross per month up to a maximum of € 6,,- gross per month (depending slightly on the employer). An attractive startup package will be part of the offer.
