Perovskite Solar Cells Research Opportunity

AMOLF is seeking a highly motivated PhD researcher to investigate the stability of perovskite solar cells. The successful candidate will join a team of researchers focused on understanding the unique characteristics of metal halide perovskite materials and developing new functional materials.

Project Overview

The PhD project will focus on controlling ion migration in perovskite solar cells, which is a critical barrier to their large-scale commercialization. The researcher will investigate the mechanisms of ion migration and develop new materials with reduced ion migration. This will involve a combination of experimental and theoretical work, including measurements of ion motion in the frequency and time domain, and drift-diffusion simulations.

Qualifications

We invite applications from highly motivated candidates with a strong background in physics, chemistry, materials science, or engineering. A keen interest in solar cells and a willingness to work in a collaborative environment are essential. The successful candidate will hold an MSc degree or equivalent qualification.

AMOLF is a leading research institute in the Netherlands, and the Hybrid Solar Cell Group is a dynamic and supportive team. The researcher will benefit from a variety of courses designed to enhance their research skills and will have the opportunity to collaborate with national and international partners.

Working Conditions
  • The working atmosphere at the institute is informal and collaborative.
  • The position is a full-time appointment for four years.
  • The starting salary is 2,781 Euros gross per month, and a range of employment benefits are available.
  • After successful completion of the PhD research, a PhD degree will be granted at a Dutch University.
  • Several courses are offered specifically for PhD students.
  • AMOLF assists new foreign PhD students with housing and visa applications and compensates their transport costs and furnishing expenses.
