The Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics is seeking a highly skilled Postdoctoral Researcher to join our team in the field of sociogenomics. As a Postdoctoral Researcher, you will be part of a dynamic research environment and contribute to the development of innovative research projects.

Research Project:

The successful candidate will co-lead a project on sociogenomics (behavioral genetics) and language development. This project aims to understand the causes and consequences of individual differences in language learning in early childhood. You will apply concepts derived from the Familial Control Method to a population of Dutch-acquiring children and their family members. The project involves a series of linguistic tasks and background questionnaires performed online by families across the country.

Responsibilities:

  • Co-lead the project on sociogenomics and language development
  • Apply concepts from the Familial Control Method to a population of Dutch-acquiring children and their family members
  • Design and implement a series of linguistic tasks and background questionnaires
  • Model the association between vocabulary scores of parents and children
  • Collaborate with the project team, including Prof Caroline Rowland, Dr Sergio Miguel Pereira Soares, and Dr Elsje van Bergen

Requirements:

  • PhD in a relevant discipline (e.g., sociogenomics, behavioral genetics, educational genetics, or psychiatric genetics)
  • Expertise in advanced statistical modeling of genetically-sensitive family data
  • Track record of research on human behavioral genetics, including experience disseminating research through conference presentations and publications
  • Experience managing confidential information and efficiently managing and cataloguing data
  • Excellent written and spoken English

What We Offer:

  • Full-time position (39 hours per week) with a term of appointment of 4 years
  • Salary according to the German TVöD (Tarifvertrag für den öffentlichen Dienst) and classified in salary group E13
