Key Responsibilities:

The EMEA Retail Finance Controller will be responsible for overseeing the financial functions that support Gibson's retail activities in the EMEA region. This encompasses the following areas:
  1. Financial management for physical retail stores
  2. Financial oversight of touch-points for Artist and Entertainment Relations
  3. Financial management of on-line (E-commerce) channels
  4. Financial management of consignment partnerships

This role will involve the core accounting and bookkeeping functions, as well as reaching into budgeting, forecasting, and process engineering. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work closely with the Commercial and Marketing Teams to drive core growth of a globally recognized brand.

Main Duties:

For all EMEA retail operations, the main duties will include:
  1. Accounting / Bookkeeping / GAAP knowledge
  2. Reconciling POS-systems to core ERP
  3. Inventory monitoring and optimization
  4. Maintenance of core POS and product data
  5. Forecasting/Budgeting including liquidity and balance sheet
  6. Profit/Loss Analysis and Modeling
  7. KPI development, measurement, and monitoring
  8. Support of retail sales pricing and product mix strategies
  9. Development of retail business cases to support growth of retail channels
  10. OPEX tracking & reporting
  11. CAPEX requests and monitoring
  12. Driving and leading improvements in systems and processes from identification through project management to implementation and execution
  13. Support external auditors and other external advisors
  14. Work with internal stakeholders such as store staff, E-commerce teams and EMEA supply chain to ensure a trouble-free retail experience for Gibson's customers
  15. Supporting Tax Department in preparation of CIT and VAT returns as well as transfer pricing

This is an office-based role with incidental travel to retail locations across Europe and potentially to the US.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have:
  1. A University degree in Accounting preferred
  2. 5+ years of direct accounting experience or as finance professional
  3. Significant experience in a retail environment including e-commerce & POS systems
  4. Familiar with different retail concepts
  5. Project management and IT-implementation.
  6. Well-versed in accounting rules and principles, especially as it relates to retail business activities
  7. Knowledge of ERP and related POS systems and their inter-relationship
  8. Strong communicator able to communicate clearly cross-functionally and cross-culturally
  9. Good skills in MS Office, especially Excel
  10. English mother-tongue
  11. Strong in Dutch, other European languages are an advantage

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic individual who thrives on the cut and thrust of commercial deal making but can balance this against the discipline required by accounting. They will be results-driven, detailed-focused and organized with analytical and numerical aptitude. They will also have intellectual curiosity, be action-oriented, think in solutions not problems, and have the ability to prioritize and deliver against set deadlines.
