Job Title: Azure Platform Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Azure Platform Engineer to join our dynamic managed platform services team. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and a strong background in cloud infrastructure, automation, and continuous integration/deployment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design & Architecture: Design and implement scalable, secure, and resilient cloud solutions on Azure.
  • Support Cloud Adoption: Support cloud adoption of applications as they are being transformed and/or modernized.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Develop and maintain infrastructure as code using tools like ARM templates, Terraform, or Bicep.
  • Architecture Documentation: Develop and maintain architecture diagrams and documentation for Azure environments.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Networking & Compute: Solid networking and compute experience.
  • Distributed Systems: Experience with distributed systems and design.
  • Container Platforms: Experience with container platforms (AKS, Azure container solutions).
  • Azure Serverless: Experience with Azure serverless offerings (Azure functions).
  • Deployment & Management: Manage and monitor Azure resources and services, ensuring optimal performance and cost efficiency.
  • Migration: Facilitating the migration of legacy systems to the Azure cloud platform.
  • CI/CD Pipelines: Implement and manage continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Automation: Automate deployment processes using tools such as Azure DevOps, ARM templates, Terraform, or similar.
  • Security & Compliance: Ensure cloud solutions comply with industry standards and regulations, including GDPR.
  • Security Best Practices: Implement security best practices and manage access controls for Azure environments.
  • Security Assessments: Conduct regular security assessments and audits.
  • Operations & Support: Provide 2nd and 3rd line support for Azure-related incidents and issues.
  • Performance Optimization: Optimize and troubleshoot performance issues in the Azure environment.
  • Backup & Disaster Recovery: Maintain backup and disaster recovery plans for cloud infrastructure.
  • Monitoring & Observability: Experience with monitoring and telemetry tooling (ELK, Datadog, Grafana, Azure Monitor, Logs, Insights).
  • FinOps & Cost Management: Experience with FinOps and cost management tooling and practices.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay current with Azure developments and incorporate new features and technologies where appropriate.
  • Training & Mentorship: Provide training and mentorship to junior team members and other staff.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of cloud services with business processes.
  • On-Call Rotation: Participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours support.
Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience: At least 5 years of hands-on experience working with Microsoft Azure.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, or Bash, Golang.
  • Configuration Management: Experience with configuration management tools like Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
  • Containerization: Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Networking: Solid understanding of networking concepts, including VPN, VNet, and firewalls.
  • CI/CD & Release Engineering: CI/CD and release engineering tooling and practices.
  • Containerization & Orchestration: Containerization and orchestration.
  • SRE Practices & Principals: SRE practices and principals.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Communication & Teamwork: Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Independence & Time Management: Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Certifications: AZ-305 certification would be advantageous.
  • Language: Fluent in Dutch and English.
