Leiden University's Faculty of Humanities, Institute for Philosophy invites applications for a specialist position as a Postdoctoral Researcher in the project 'Do we owe anything to ourselves?'

The successful candidate will be a key team member working on a subproject within the Starting Grant project 'Do we owe anything to ourselves?', funded by the Dutch Government.

The postdoctoral researcher will be responsible for examining different arguments for and against the idea of obligations to oneself, studying Kantian arguments for duties to oneself, and conducting research on related issues in contemporary moral psychology.

The candidate will also be expected to publish research findings, participate in research group meetings, present papers at conferences, and devote 20% of their time to teaching duties for the BA and/or MA programmes in Philosophy.

To be considered for this position, applicants should hold a PhD, awarded by the time of appointment, ideally on a topic related to the theme of the research project.

The ideal candidate will have a strong research profile and publication record, excellent command of English, a record of high-quality teaching, and the ability to work in a collaborative research environment.

The position is a temporary appointment as a Postdoctoral Researcher, for 0.8 FTE, for the duration of one year, with the prospect of extension for another two years conditional on good performance.

The gross monthly salary is € 4,332,- (scale 11.0) based on a full-time appointment.

The successful candidate will be employed by Leiden University and will be required to live and be officially registered as a resident in the Netherlands, or be willing to relocate upon starting the position.
