We are seeking a highly qualified Postdoctoral Researcher to join our team at the Institute for Philosophy, Leiden University. The successful candidate will be part of a research project exploring the concept of obligations to oneself.

About the Project

The project aims to examine the idea of duties to oneself, combining insights from the ongoing debate, Kant's views, and contemporary moral psychology. The researcher will contribute to the project by conducting research, publishing findings, and participating in research group meetings.

Responsibilities
  • Examine different arguments for and against obligations to oneself
  • Study Kantian arguments for duties to oneself
  • Investigate related issues in contemporary moral psychology
  • Conduct research and publish findings
  • Participate in research group meetings and present papers at conferences
  • Teach duties for the BA and/or MA programmes in Philosophy (20% of time)
Requirements
  • PhD in a relevant field, awarded by the time of appointment
  • Strong research profile and publication record
  • Excellent command of English
  • Ability to work in a collaborative research environment
  • Record of high-quality teaching
  • Results-oriented and capable of highlighting societal potential of work
What We Offer
  • Temporary position as a postdoctoral researcher (0.8 fte) for one year, with the prospect of extension for another two years
  • Salary in accordance with the collective salary agreement of the Association of Dutch Universities (CAO)
