Job Description

About the Role:

Royal IHC is seeking a talented and motivated individual to join our team as a Hydraulic Engineer Intern. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for investigating alternative methods for controlling Hydraulic Power Units (HPUs) to reduce energy consumption and lifetime costs.

Project Overview:

The goal of this project is to develop a smart HPU control system that can optimize energy efficiency and reduce costs. You will work closely with our engineering team to determine the scope of work, detail a design concept, and investigate alternative control methods.

Responsibilities:

  • Create an overview of common HPU used cases
  • Perform function analysis of each used case and determine overall cost price, current efficiency, and lifetime costs
  • Develop possible solutions for each case with overall cost price against expected efficiency and costs
  • Liaise with SAS-Hytop engineers on day-to-day design and approach
  • Liaise with other departments within SAS-Hytop to collect information and client expectations
  • Record selected updates in the concept design in sufficient detail in sketches, drawings, calculations, and the final report

Requirements:

  • Vocational education (HBO or WO)
  • Study focused on creative machinery design or hydraulic engineering
  • Knowledge and/or interest in offshore technology and hydraulic equipment
  • Experience with 2D and 3D modeling (desirable)
  • Good command of the English language, both verbally and written
  • Ability to use feedback to improve quality of work
  • Ability to work independently and be self-critical
