Mechanical Engineer Position

We are a leading manufacturer of innovative, standardized, and smart-customized designs for ships and vessels. Our goal is to develop, design, and construct a portfolio of tugs, dredgers, and workboats in the most effective and efficient manner.
The RoleWe are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our standardization team. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be part of an innovative team looking for ways to improve existing designs or create new designs that will help Damen reduce costs and lead-time and improve quality. You will work closely with our Services department and Yards to support them in case of problems related to standard designs.
Key Responsibilities- Executing all phases of engineering according to the V-model, from setting up functional requirements to preparing commissioning protocols.
- Assessing and analyzing input from suppliers, services, detailed engineering, and suppliers.
- Working closely with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure quality and interface integration.
- Performing basic calculations related to Class, load/power, strength, and flow in the mechanical engineering field.
- Preparing system diagrams, propulsion arrangements, and outfitting drawings.
- Preparing Design Philosophies, Measurement, and Commissioning protocols.
- Outsourcing work to our 3D Engineering partners.
- A quality consciousness and a practical approach.
- An easy-going person, pro-active, creative, showing ownership, and result-driven.
- Bachelor degree in Engineering, preferably in the field of Mechanical Engineering.
- Working experience in Mechanical Engineering in the maritime sector.
- Familiarity with the Rules and Regulations and being able to interpret and translate them for our ship-type portfolio.
- An interest in innovation and an open mindset to new technologies.
- Good communication skills in managing stakeholders and documenting the standard.
- English is a must, Dutch is a plus.
