About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join Personio's Finance, Strategy, & Legal team as a Product Counsel, where you will play a key role in shaping and scaling our legal product offering. As a legal business partner, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to drive the development and enhancement of our product offering, ensuring compliance with regulations and providing valuable legal and compliance solutions to our business and customers.
Key Responsibilities
- You will act as a legal business partner for Product and Engineering throughout the product development lifecycle, proactively identifying legal issues and providing practical advice to support innovation at Personio.
- You will manage Personio's day-to-day product queries, ensuring that scalable advice is always at the forefront by drafting and managing the implementation of FAQs, guidelines, and training materials.
- You will advise on compliance with marketing and advertising laws in our key countries to support our Marketing and Sales teams, ensuring that when we launch a product, add a feature, or make public claims about Personio, we do so in line with our legal obligations.
- You will work closely with our Partnerships team to execute on negotiating, drafting, and advising on new partnerships that add value to Personio.
- You will support Personio's brand by advising Personio's Marketing teams on intellectual property matters.
- You will bring your knowledge of EU and UK privacy laws and apply it to Personio, identifying possible privacy risks at different stages of the product development lifecycle and embedding a 'privacy by design' mindset.
- You will stay informed about emerging legal trends, including developments in technology, employment law, privacy, and artificial intelligence, and enable stakeholders through continuous training and education.
Requirements
- Qualified lawyer with a minimum of 7 years' experience at a law firm or in-house legal department, with a focus on product counselling, privacy, and technology.
- Advanced legal knowledge of technology legal issues, including intellectual property, privacy, commercial, regulatory compliance, and application of new laws (experience of advising on artificial intelligence a plus) in the EU and UK.
- Advanced capability to quickly and independently analyze complex legal issues, evaluate key risks, and make clear recommendations to support product development.
- Able to own and independently manage projects/multiple workstreams in a fast-paced environment.
- Jira, GSuite, and other legal tools expertise with advanced knowledge of legal processes to optimize processes for scalability and make recommendations.
- Ability to build trust with and influence cross-functional groups of stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex legal concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, both verbally and in the preparation of documentation.
- Fluent written and spoken English; German or further European languages are a plus.
