Wärtsilä is a world leader in marine technology, driving the industry's transformation towards a decarbonized and sustainable future. As a Propulsion Workshop Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the operational excellence of our Propulsion Workshop in Schiedam.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the daily work activities of the mechanics in the Propulsion Workshop, ensuring efficient planning and coordination of workload.
  • Oversee the overhaul, repair, building, and remodelling of marine propulsion systems, including propellers, thrusters, and oil supply units.
  • Lead a team of mechanical specialists, providing coaching, evaluation, and development discussions to enhance motivation and performance.
  • Ensure the highest level of quality by inspecting work execution and addressing any issues promptly.
  • Approve inspection and work reports, and continuously improve ways of working and processes.
Requirements:
  • A high safety standard in your work, aligning with Wärtsilä's safety standards.
  • Staying up-to-date on current technologies, including hardware and software (Windows 365, SAP, SWF, etc.).
  • A vocational or associate degree in Mechanical Engineering or a similar educational background.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a production or maintenance environment of mechanical installations.
  • Experience in the marine industry or propulsion installations is an advantage.
  • Knowledge or affinity with repair procedures like machining and welding.
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings.
  • Stress resistance and flexibility.
  • Service-mindedness.
  • Strong natural leadership skills with a positive, no-nonsense approach and the ability to coach a team.
  • Proficiency in Dutch and English languages, both written and verbal, along with strong communication skills.
