Electrical Engineering Specialist for Advanced Naval Vessels

Salary:

We offer a competitive salary of approximately €80,000 per year, along with an 8% holiday pay, 27 holidays, and 13 ADV days. Additionally, you will receive a travel allowance of 23 cents per kilometre and a PME-pension arrangement with an employer contribution of 60%. Profit sharing based on company results is also part of our benefits package.

Job Description:

You will be responsible for designing electrical and automation systems for advanced naval vessels as a Tender Engineer Electrical & Automation at Damen Naval's Proposals department. Collaborating within a multidisciplinary team, you will develop innovative solutions that meet regulatory requirements and enhance our commercial proposals. You will frequently travel between our Vlissingen and Schiedam offices.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Assist in preliminary equipment selection and budget allocation through requirements analysis and drafting engineering specifications.
  • Define general system architectures, including Single Line Diagrams and Automation Architectures, along with electrical load balances and propulsion system configurations.
  • Evaluate designs against requirements and prepare detailed reports.
  • Write technical documents, contract specifications, and reports, clearly communicating complex concepts to customers and subcontractors.
  • Participate in discussions on technical and commercial aspects with customers, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
  • Support cost evaluations by subcontractors and internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to optimize project outcomes.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • A minimum of three years' experience in electrical design, preferably in complex manufacturing (maritime/tender) projects.
  • Strong writing skills for detailed and compelling technical content.
  • Commercial mindset to create viable and appealing forecasts.
  • Bachelor's or master's in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
  • Excellent command of English, both written and verbal; Dutch preferred, willingness to learn Dutch required.
  • Excellent references, as a security screening is part of the hiring process.
  • Permanent EU citizenship and passport are both required.
