Research Internship in Thermoplastic Composites

Thermoplastic composites (TPCs) are a family of fiber-reinforced polymeric materials that offer unique benefits, including ease of processing, shapeability, and recyclability. These characteristics make them highly attractive for various industrial applications, such as the transport sector, where upcoming environmental regulations will require the incorporation of recyclable materials in products. The aviation industry also demands lightweight TPCs to mitigate the carbon footprint of their processes and operations.
What will be your role?
You will work in our research center and participate in the activities of the Sustainable Mobility team. Depending on your interest, field of study, and background, your tasks may include materials processing, design, testing, and characterization.
What we expect from you
We are looking for students (BSc or MSc) with a background in mechanical engineering, material science, polymer chemistry, and/or similar fields who possess a hands-on mentality. Previous experience in a laboratory environment and affinity to polymer chemistry and material science are a plus. Experience with thermal analysis equipment (DSC, TGA, etc.) and mechanical characterization (DMTA, tensile) would be appreciated. Good communication skills in written and spoken English are expected. The internship period should last at least 5 months.
