Key Responsibilities


• Administer the packages of the instrumentation engineering group, ensuring seamless execution of projects.

• Utilize technical knowledge to perform engineering assignments and produce a range of instrumentation engineering deliverables, including specifications, calculations, reports, and technical requisitions, with minimal guidance from senior technical professionals.

• Develop a range of instrumentation engineering deliverables, including specifications, calculations, reports, and technical requisitions, to support project requirements.

• Ensure that instrumentation engineering activities are executed according to project procedures, specifications, and standards, good engineering practices, and project-specific requirements.

• Supervise day-to-day engineering interfaces between the project management team, engineering teams, and other specialist disciplines, including interaction with other specialist disciplines as required.

• Participate in design reviews and engineering changes with customers and EPC contractors, as necessitated by design development, and ensure the core team is aware of these changes.

• Participate in key customer reviews and meetings as required, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.

• Participate in project reviews, value engineering, and value improvement workshops with customers and contractors, to optimize project outcomes.

• Participate in meetings and reviews, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed and aligned.

• Responsible for estimating electrical discipline man-hours and schedule requirements in production of deliverables, coordinates own work schedule, and prepares progress reports.

• Review vendor documentation, ensuring compliance with project requirements.

• Conduct site surveys and develop site survey reports, providing valuable insights for project execution.

• Review and comment on PFD / P&ID for any control / interlock / safety-related representations, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

• Participate in HAZOP / SIL review meetings, implementing safety instrument design as per review reports.

• Implement safety instrument design as per HAZOP / SIL review reports, performing SIL definitions and preparing safety requirement specifications.

• Update P&ID and instrument structure design for SIL requirements, ensuring seamless integration.

• Prepare and review specifications of DCS / SIS / F&G systems and any other PLC-related systems, ensuring compliance with project requirements.

• Prepare system architecture for DCS, SIS, F&G, or any other control systems, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.

• Prepare material requisitions for DCS / SIS / F&G systems, SCADA, or any other control systems required for the project, ensuring timely delivery and compliance.

• Prepare technical bid evaluations of suppliers' proposals for control systems, ensuring best value for the project.

• Prepare control system requirements for package units, supporting package specialists for MR, technical clarification, and bid evaluations, document review, and approval, coordinating interfaces between package unit control systems and plant control systems.

• Review and approve vendor documents for incorporation into the design, coordinating with other disciplines, such as electrical consumption for electrical power supply design, heat dissipation for ACMV design, weight, and dimension for civil/architecture design.

• Prepare cause & effect matrix, logic diagrams, control narratives, and safety narratives, any other necessary control & ESD system-related documents for system configurations, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

• Perform SIL verifications and revise instrument design structures where required, ensuring optimal performance and safety.

• Review and check all activities and documents required for the lifecycles of the safety instrumented system, ensuring compliance and accuracy.

• Review and approve suppliers' hardware and software configuration, ensuring compliance with project requirements.

Design of control room layout, ensuring optimal functionality and safety.

• Instruct and advise instrument design teams for control system hardware and cabling installation design, system cabinet earthing and grounding design, ensuring seamless execution.

• Prepare instrument bill of quantity and subcontractor requisition for control system hardware installation work, ensuring timely delivery and compliance.

• Review, comment, and approve supplier's test procedures, attend FAT / SAT, and follow up with any punch list, ensuring compliance and accuracy.

• Prepare functional test procedures for loop testing when requested by the client, ensuring optimal performance and safety.

• Require extensive and independent contact with clients, vendor representatives, and project field personnel, attending and participating in coordination meetings as required.

• Direct and/or participate in job site visits to collect or deliver design and engineering data, ensuring seamless execution and compliance.

• Ensure that all comments are consistent and included in the drawings according to the applicable procedure, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

Requirements


• Relevant degree / Chartered Engineer or appropriate experience.

• Proven record ranging from minimum 10 years in engineering of refinery, oil & gas, petrochemical, or similar facilities.

• Experience of FEED and EPC projects.

• Experienced engineer with sound technical background and expertise.

• Experienced in the use of appropriate codes of practice, standards, and relevant sections of statutory documentation.

• Fluent English, knowledge of French and Dutch is a plus.
