Postdoctoral Researcher in Green Technologies for Digital Research Infrastructures

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join our team at the Universiteit van Amsterdam. The successful candidate will be part of the GreenDIGIT project, which aims to design and develop a sustainable digital research infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities- Contribute to the design and development of the GreenDIGIT project, focusing on green technologies and digital research infrastructures.
- Collaborate with researchers and operators to reduce energy consumption, carbon footprint, and environmental impact.
- Develop and implement solutions and tools for researchers and operators to optimize and environmental impact-aware workflows.
- Contribute to the development of data management and data sharing infrastructure, interoperable with EOSC and cooperating testbeds.
- Participate in research on energy efficiency and scientific workflow optimization, experimental research automation, and research data management.
- Doctorate in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or Machine Learning.
- Experience in developing Machine Learning and Data Analytics applications, knowledge of popular ML and data mining frameworks, libraries, and development environments.
- Good knowledge of and experience with cloud-based Big Data platforms and services, cloud-based development processes, and tools.
- Ability to communicate with a large number of cooperating senior and junior researchers, advise them on coordinated actions, and share experience.
- Good communicative skills in English, both written and oral.
- A temporary employment contract for 38 hours per week for a period of 36 months.
- A gross monthly salary, based on 38 hours per week and dependent on relevant experience, ranging between €3,000 to €5,000.
- An extensive package of secondary benefits, including 8% holiday allowance and a year-end bonus of 8.3%.
- The possibility to set up a workplace at home.
- A pension at ABP for which UvA pays two-thirds of the contribution.
- The possibility to follow courses to learn Dutch.
- Help with housing for a studio or small apartment when moving from abroad.
